Occupy Belfast
Star Theatre Company have been working on this show for the past four years and now interest has grown so much that we had to complete it into a huge dance show which we're delighted about! This is a true story of the lives of each of the Participants we feature of the "Occupation" of the Bank and the Tent pitches at the Cathedral Quarter, in Belfast in 2011 and subsequent , some would say, socialist,peaceful protests around the city.
Featuring Street Cred dancers from Northern Ireland and local Actors from Star Theatre:- Lindsey Mitchell ; Glenn Hamill (Culture Nights ,Belfast); Fra McCartney ; Patrick Allen (Lamb Films) Ross McKinney (Our Robot Overlords); Lee Kenny, Mars Kenny (Noirland), Baz Wickins; & John McClenaghan , Theatre Writer, we bring you a representation in verse, song and dance about life "at the tents". A story of "People Power" in an age when Communities are starting to molt together in a new, peaceful Belfast..
Featuring "Skunk" and other real-life Protestors with Ross McKinney and Barry Wickins playing the lead characters, (Gerry Carroll) we bring you explosive, funny and very real emotional banter, laced with music and dance.

Star Theatre Company sponsored a new group called Emerald Isle Legends Larp which is based in N.I. and they write their own larp games.

and the Viking fantasy "Gurith" after holding our first audition in Belfast in August 2015. We feature many of the cast members here on Star's website. Enjoy. If you'd like to join as a full member, it's £6 per household and/or full membership is £25 for the year. For a small donation of your choice, we can also send out a newsletter to you with all the latest shows, and workshops, with discounts etc. as many of our workshops are free and we support mainly disabled actors and friends. Just use the donate button above which goes directly into Group accounts. All members get a copy of our Constitution and Funds information etc. and ongoing financial movements for the group. We are registered with NICVA , UK Professional Theatre, and with Dance facilitation organisations. Star Theatre Company/Media is a Constituted Community Not-for-Profit Charitable Arts and Facilitation Organization funded by, and run entirely by Volunteers in the Arts industry since 2009. We have six Core Members and up to 1400 Associate members who work with us across Ireland and the UK. ~We fund (give grants ) to facilitate new writing , in plays and films.

Our touring play "Built in Belfast " is on the move again in Wales, Liverpool , Chester and in Northern Ireland in the Summer and Autumn /Winter months of 2018. Our dance troupe "Street Cred" meet for rehearsals in May, June through to December, 2018 in Belfast and Cardiff. If you want to join, we are looking for two more main actors for the play and three more dancers for the troupe in this show and also in "Occupy Belfast". Cardiff rehearsals begin mid-December 2018 and the Belfast rehearsals are current.
